Intercultural fair

We have invited almost 1,500 students to enter the Fair, students who scored highest in the assessment tests – multiple choice questions, were selected to continue to the next program.

The AFS Intercultural Fair is an event to “Expand Access to Intercultural Education” through introductory exposure to many different cultures and languages, videos with host students from overseas / returnees from AFS Exchange Programs / representatives of country consulates sharing their culture and inventions. Students will equip themselves with basic level of intercultural knowledge.

Intercultural Learning Program (Global Up Teen Program)

We invited the top-scored students to join the program. Students completing the Program were awarded an AFS Global Competence Certificate. Top scorers in the program have been selected to continue to the next activity – Competition (I).

THINK BIG Competition (I)

As a youth ambassador, how would you promote Hong Kong Chinese culture overseas?
YEP Competition I

After introducing to foreign cultures, students need to learn deeply about their own culture through research. The Competition (I) for the top-scored students has the objective of identifying Youth Ambassadors who can best export the Hong Kong Chinese culture to different parts of the world.

The format is in a written proposal of 600-800 words and pre-finalists were selected to make presentation in the final interview on individual base.

Students demonstrate their knowledge in Hong Kong Chinese culture, their skill sets in research, knowledge management, creativity, presentation skills, and their confidence in promoting the culture of Hong Kong overseas.

The Winners of Competition (I) become the first AFS Junior Scholars to go on to AFS Year Exchange Program in an overseas country.

The runners up were invited to join Stage 2 programs and activities.

Year Exchange Program

海外交流計劃

The Winners of Competition (I) become the first 10 AFS Junior Scholars to go on to AFS Year Exchange Program in an overseas country, immerse in a foreign environment for 10 months, study at a local secondary school and live with a host family.

Youth Empowerment Project Stage II students were invited to join this program. It features a youth-focused platform for connecting and sharing with other teen learners worldwide.

Global You Changemaker Program

Youth Empowerment Project Stage II students were invited to join this program. This is an advanced 12-week interactive virtual exchange program for teens anywhere in the world, to develop global competence skills, create innovative social impact projects. This program is jointly developed by AFS and the University of Pennsylvania.

Students completing the Program have received the Advanced Certificate on Global Citizenship for Social Impact issued by AFS and the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania.

THINK BIG Competition (II)

Creation and implementation of a Sustainability Project to Achieve SDG* Goals in Hong Kong
YEP Competition II

With the innovate social impact idea students have created in the AFS Global You™ Changemaker Program, they are invited to participate in a Competition (II) where they can showcase their project ideas and prototype.

The Sustainability Project aims to balance environmental, social, and economic concerns in order to achieve a healthy and prosperous society that can continue into the future.

The format is in a written proposal of 1,000-1,500 words including the financial planning and analysis such as the resources needed for the project, the best use of existing resources, and create partnerships. Finalists were selected to make presentation in the vetting interview.

Through the competition process students demonstrate their knowledge in SDG*, equip
themselves with improved personal skills in creative and critical thinking, and enhance their
confidence in planning and making decisions.

AFS RC Lee Project Connect Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program aims to create a live map of RC Lee Foundation Scholars and AFS Junior Scholars in Hong Kong. Objectives of the Program are to provide academic coaching and career advising to the AFS Junior Scholars.
